I was a little slow to reading this post by Ingrid Fetell on the Joy and Pain of Abundance but I definitely think it is worth a read. Speaking of the burdens of being a visual thinker -- I saw the HBO movie on Temple Grandin's life this weekend and was just blown away by the sketch overlays used to illustrate her powerful, unique mind.
The Write House
There has been little spare time these past few months with weddng season in full swing. When I do have a few moments to spare I find myself browsing the White House flickr page. I still can't get over that such a thing even exists. And I'm especially taken by the images that involve writing: the signatures, notes, hand writing and edited speeches.
Phew!
Project Valentine is officially over. There were some positively touching messages sent to loved ones (which I wish I could share here). It was a joy to know that these notes were being sent far and wide (Jordan!). Unfortunately Philadelphia's snowiest winter on record coincided with the mailing of envelopes and I apologize to all who may have received them a few days late. Saturday, February 6 was the first time I can remember not receiving mail -- neither snow indeed! That week Caroline Tiger mentioned the project in the Inquirer's LifeStyle column, pictured above. In this digital age I was quite surprised to see Neither Snow on newsprint, and I welcomed the appearance.
Shout Outs
Folks have said some very nice things about Neither Snow lately in the blogosphere (Style Notes, Delight by Design, Oh So Beautiful Paper, Erin Ever After, 100 Layer Cake, Etsy). I am touched and wanted to say thank you. You all provide so much inspiration and delight.
Marta Writes Giveaway
I participated in a Valentines giveaway over at Marta Writes. I loved learning about the items her readers collect: bells, matchbooks, ribbon.
New Stamp Sets
Tomorrow a new batch of stamp sets will be added to the etsy store. For now, you can have a gander at them in the online portfolio. They appear on the last few pages. They are almost all entirely different stamps. The set above is called "Shall I Compare Thee."
Postal Press!
A while back Alyson from Postal Press contacted me about collaborating on a few projects. As a huge fan of her work (and her blog!) I was beyond thrilled and honored. She integrated my calligraphy in this sweet Lovely Lady card for puchase on her website. What a perfect gift for a special woman in your life. She really brought my humble script to an entirely new, textured level.
Valentines : A new batch
On Wednesday I'll be adding a new batch of stamps to choose from for Project Valentine. You can head on over to my etsy shop. Above, one of the new sets called "Simpler Times: celebrating wool, the Rural Electrification Administration, future farmers and rural America. I'm awfully excited about these new sets.
Valentines of Years Past
I am so excited about Project Valentine 2010 and the lovely messages I've received so far from customers. I'm especially thrilled about the international orders. I can hardly wait to get calligraphing. I have an inconsistent but well-intentioned yearly tradition of sending out valentines to the ones I love and wanted to revisit those from last year. My friend Todd got his and totally didn't get it. He thought it was a high concept change of address card. It is a photograph from an old engraver's plate that I found in Boston.
Project Valentine
Hello. As you'll see, many changes afoot. Some incomplete, others confusing. Your patience is much appreciated as I work out the kinks over the next few days. In the meantime, please stop by my portfolio to view valentine samples and all of the stamp sets, and then head over to my etsy store for information on ordering. More soon!
